Evaluation

Evaluation questions:

1) What did you find the most challenging and why?

The most challenging part of this project was the editing and cutting of the each clip and making sure that each sequence matched the original. We also experienced technical difficulties with some of the clips being over written, however we resolved this and managed to get the clips working again. After resolving this the editing process became easier and we had the editing finished within a few days of working on it. Between us we managed to take turns in editing which was challenging sometimes as one of us would pick up differences between the music video and ours that the editing person wouldn't notice.

2) What will you do differently when you make your A2 product next year?
I would look more in detail of the framing of the filming better so that each angle and shot is similar to the original. I found that in some clips of our music video it wasn't as accurate as some different clips. Maybe if we looked at the clip in more detail and looked more specifically at the framing it would probably look more like the original video. Also I would maybe refilm some of the clips that are not as accurate to improve this.

3) How has doing this task helped you and why? What have you taken away from this experience?
This task has helped me to understand editing because I haven't used a editing software before and I didn't realise how simple and easy to use it is. From this experience I have gathered that the planning for the music video is more time consuming and important than the actual producing and editing of the final music video. If the planning isn't accurate and isn't broken down and analysed efficiently, then the filming wont be as accurate and the shots wont be as well sequenced. Hopefully from this experiance when doing future projects I will plan more so that I know what I need to film.

4) How successful was your product? Why do you think it was successful or unsuccessful?
I think that our final product was successful because by looking and analyzing the original music video bit by bit, we where able to produce something very similar. By working as a team and setting out roles and responsibility, we where able to gather everything we could possibly need to make the filming of the product successful and replicate the set of the music video. Looking back at the final product i think that we have achieved a similar music video to the original.

5) How do you feel about developing to A2 level now you have completed this task?
I feel much more confident in progressing to A2 after doing this project because by the right planning and organisation, you can achieve what you set out to do. It has also made me realize how much time and effort is put into making a music video, even if we only produced a minute of a video. I think that when I start A2 i should go in with an open mind and be open for suggestions.

6) What do you like most/least about your final product
What I like the most about my final product is how a like the music clip is to the original. Every bit of detail was taken into account and reproduced into our clip. I think this is why it was successful. There is some shots however that where not exactly the same as the original however it was fairly close.

Lyrics & Timing

Looking at the lyrics and its location in the clip will help us to sequence our music video as each clip will represent a point in the song. This will help when filming as we can refer back to this and the original music video so that each shot and the timing of the video is perfect.

Music Video Reconstruction

This video would be interesting and reproducible because the location and props are easily accessible. Looking at the music video, I have a few ideas as to where we could shoot each section of the music video and who could be cast for the roles. Out of the two music videos we found that we could reproduce, I think this video would be easier as there is only two locations in this video, whereas in the Taylor Swift there is more.

This music video would be good to recreate for our final music video because the props and location is fairly simple and  reproducible. However, the location could be difficult to film in a similar location due to area. Also i think that the Katy Perry song would be more interesting because it is quite a well known music video and it would be great to see how we could recreate it.
